Between The Sheets

Interview with Eloise Home

London-based Eloise Showering launched Eloise Home in 2020 - a British supplier of playful fabrics, wallpapers and homewares. Each textile is hand-drawn and painted by Eloise herself, inspired by nature and the outdoors 🌿

Eloise Home’s playful colour palettes and ever changing scales give a free-spirited, can-do attitude to modern British design. Each season, new patterns and colourways are introduced to their growing range. All designs can be made bespoke through colour and scale changes, transforming each pattern.

We recently caught up with Eloise after a shoot for English Home Magazine, where she used Tielle products in her bedrooms and bathrooms, to discuss her career to date, her sources of inspiration and some of her top interior design tips.

How did you get started in textile design, and what led you to pursue it as a career?

My journey into design wasn't defined by a single moment but rather a series of paths. From a young age, I harboured a passion for design and at 16, I did a foundation course in Art and Design before venturing into the modelling world whilst studying. This journey led me through a degree in Creative Advertising and a Master's in Curating and Collections at Chelsea College of Art. Following my studies and modelling career, I ventured into various creative industries, exploring different facets of design. It wasn't until the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic that I discovered Surface Pattern Design, a newfound passion that inspired me to launch Eloise Home.

Each year, you create new patterns and colourways, where do you find the inspiration for your designs?

Nature is my primary source, offering endless inspiration in shapes, textures, and colours but I try to stay updated on design trends to incorporate those more contemporary elements. I use popular industry paint brands to inspire a lot of my colour combinations, and this way, customers can incorporate them more easily into their homes.

What do you think the next big trends will be in interior design?

Predicting interior design trends is a tricky one, but one undeniable shift is the increasingly multifunctional nature of our homes. They now serve as versatile spaces, functioning as areas for entertaining, working, exercising and relaxing. It’s interesting to see how the often neglected spaces in our homes are becoming showcases for interiors - laundry rooms, pantries and downstairs loos are all being featured much more in magazines than they used to!

When designing your own home and bedroom, what were the most important things to you?

I find joy in experimenting with colour and combining various textures. Mixing old and new adds character to the space too. I also try to prioritise supporting local artisans, with much of our furniture being handmade by UK carpenters and upholsterers.

Your Bathrooms are beautiful - how do you create the perfect sanctuary?

I love the feeling of wrapping myself in big, fluffy towels straight from a warming towel rail. I'm all about creating a spa-like atmosphere in the bathroom, with bowls filled with soap, bath oils, and a few candles dotted around. It's these little touches that really make the space feel relaxing and indulgent.

When it comes to finishing touches, what items do you think you always invest in, and where can you save budget?

Investing in high-quality bed linen is a must for me, given that we spend a significant portion of our lives in bed. Similarly, opting for luxurious natural-fibre towels that are soft and fluffy as well as maintain their quality wash after wash.

You can elevate your home's ambiance by layering textures, decorative items and good lighting. A warm glow from a lamp, some fun cushions and a couple of cosy blankets go a long way. There are so many high street brands and outlets now that you can find great deals too - lots of picture frames and vases I have are from the high street.
