Hot interior trends for Autumn / Winter 2018/2019

Give your home the ‘red carpet’ treatment with touches of gold, dusty pinks and deep blues – the hottest colours in town for AW 2018 interiors.

This season’s interiors are less monochromatic minimalism as they take on a more vibrant mood. From woodland-inspired wallpapers to funky accessories in unusual textures and shapes, the focus is on playful escapism and nostalgia. Here interior stylist Emma Hooton talks us through a few top trends for Autumn / Winter 2018.

Soft touches

Cushions and throws are the mainstay of any cosy autumn/winter scheme but this season they’re decidedly bold and bright. Mix and match soft furnishings in bright shades, bold shapes and quirky textures for a 70s-inspired feel. Natural materials and opulent velvets in burnt orange and emerald green are also on-trend and team well with dark woods and a splash of gold.

We love Rockett St George have a great selection of home accessories; you may also want to add texture and drama with faux fur throws

Classic crafts

Mass manufacture still has its place, but there’s a rising appreciation for craftsmanship and the handmade. From vintage crafts such as marquetry and rattan furniture making to elegant parquet floors, bringing old-time character and natural charm into modern homes has never been so cool.

Natural nods

Botanical references continue to grace ceilings and walls this season, but more exotic houseplants are also finding their way into homes. Other earthy references we’re seeing a lot of include entomology prints of butterflies and moths thanks to their pleasing symmetry and striking hues.

We love Abigail Ahern’s new range of faux botanics. For insect prints, check out the Trowbridge Gallery and for inspiration, Fornasetti.

Artisan folk

Folk-inspired handcrafted homeware such as tufted rugs, decorative quilts and rattan lampshades are bang on trend perhaps as an antidote to our tech-filled lives. Bringing personality and character to interiors, different textures help create visual interest - and make us feel cosy in the darker months.

Celestial beauty

Rich tones on the walls, especially navy,  and celestial references in furniture and lighting are big for the coming months. From cloud-inspired wallpaper and pendants and table lamps that mimic the shape of the moon, autumn/winter 18 will soon see us all gazing out to space from the comfort of our bed.
