Need a hand choosing your dream bedding?

Ever wondered why you sleep so well in a hotel bed? Discover the secret with our handy buyer’s guide, which helps you bring that 5* feeling home.

Shop like a hotelier and understand the difference between crisp percale and smooth sateen weaves. Learn about the finishes, fabrics, and techniques we use in our luxury bedlinen and bath collections and discover the artistry behind a brilliant night’s sleep.

Thread counts: Sew much more than a number

Think a higher thread count equals higher quality sheets? Think again. There are lots of things that can impact the feel of your bedlinen, from yarn quality to the finishing process. All the little details can make a big difference.

The thread count simply means the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric. Knowing the feel of different thread counts and which you prefer can help you find the right bedlinen for you.

If you’re a fan of that cool and crisp feeling, then a lower 200 thread count might give you the soundest sleep. Or you might prefer the feel of a 600 thread count which gives a more silky-smooth finish.

Bed linen thread counts can go all the way up to 1,000, but ours peaks at a luxurious 600. Much higher thread counts tend to be a very dense weave, resulting in a stiffer texture - not exactly the fabric you want to sink into at the end of a long day.

It’s also important to note that a high thread count can mean that multiple yarns have been twisted together artificially to bump up the thread count number. At Tielle, we only use high quality single-ply thread in our premium textiles.

The ultimate sleep test? Bedding approved by 5* hotels

We’re not supposed to have favourites, but if we had to pick one thread count, we’d probably plump for our 400 thread count collection. It’s been rigorously road-tested by some of the very best hotels and strikes the perfect balance between exquisite comfort and durability. Not sure which thread count is for you? Check out our thread count flow chart to find your match.

Creating your very own sleep sanctuary should be a pleasure not a chore, but we know that the technical things can get confusing. With over 90 years’ experience in deluxe linens, our industry-leading experts are here to help. Invest in your well-being and sleep better knowing you've made the right choice for your home.

Level up your bedding game with our “How To” series

Take the Tielle test: Is your linen hotel-worthy?

Put your current bedding to the test with these simple steps:

  • The Light Test: Hold your sheets up to a light source. Uneven light patches can indicate poor quality spinning and weaker linen.
  • The Drape Test: Drape the fabric across your hand. Hairy or fluffy surfaces suggest the linen hasn't been 'singed', a premium finishing process which burns off loose fibres. This is essential for a soft, smooth feel.
  • The Inspection Test: Carefully examine the bedding for stray flecks of coloured thread or yarn. These imperfections are a sign of lower quality manufacturing.

How to choose your new favourite bed sheets

Only the very best cotton

When it comes to comfort, nothing compares to pure cotton. That’s why all of our bedlinen is exclusively made from this exquisite fabric. We craft durable, breathable sateen and percale sheets, duvet covers, and pillowcases from premium single-ply threads. The result? Naturally beautiful bedlinen with the high-end feel that 5* hotels favour.

The superior choice? Single ply

If you’re looking for the secret behind bedlinen that’s soft wash after wash, we’ll let you in on ours. Our single-ply fabric is woven with a single, long-staple cotton thread. We use the finest quality yarn so we don’t need to twist lots of threads together for strength. This means we end up with luxuriously smooth sheets that stand the test of time.

Turning threads into premium beds

It all starts with the careful selection of high-grade yarn, which is artfully spun and woven in family-owned mills. We choose all of our suppliers for their high standards and commitment to building ethical and sustainable businesses that benefit everyone. You can be confident that every Tielle product helps to contribute to a better world.

Your pillowcase matters more than you think

A good pillowcase is the finishing touch to a better night’s sleep. Find something you’ll

love sinking your head into by mastering the difference thread count, fabric weave and

generous sizing can make.

A roomier pillowcase allows your pillow to perform at its best, without being squeezed and compacted too much. All of our pillowcases are intentionally oversized, to account for natural shrinkage (5-8%) after the first wash.

  • Housewife Pillowcase: 53cm x 76cm - Designed for a snug fit around a standard 48cm x 74cm pillow.
  • Oxford Pillowcase: 53cm x 76cm – The same size as a housewife pillowcase, but features a stylish 5cm decorative border, adding a touch of hotel elegance to your bedding.

Duvets & Pillows

Crafted for comfort: Choosing your duvet

When it comes to finding your perfect duvet there isn’t a one-size-fits-all. Goldilocks knew the power of getting it “just right”, so choosing the right fill and tog rating to match your sleep preferences really is the key to a better night.

Understanding duvet filling options:

  • Feather Filling: Gives a snug, tucked-in feel to duvets. Our hotel-quality Savoy duvet combines premium feather and duck down for ultimate luxury with a comforting weight.
  • Duck Down Filling: An exceptional insulator, providing luxurious softness and lightweight warmth. The large down clusters trap air, keeping you cosy all night long.
  • European Goose Down Filling: Sourced from more mature geese, resulting in a higher grade of down. Our lightweight and breathable Goose Down duvets offer superior all-season warmth and are naturally breathable.

Non-allergenic Filling (Microfibre): Synthetic duvets are often seen as second-rate next to natural fills, but hotel-standard microfibre duvets can feel just like the real thing. They offer a warm and light alternative to natural fills, ideal for allergy sufferers. Ours are also wrapped in a high thread count to keep dust mites

Tog ratings: What’s your magic number?

The tog rating on your duvet describes how warm it is - the higher the tog, the toastier you’ll be, while lower togs are ideal for warmer climates.

  • 10.5 Tog: Provides year-round comfort, often preferred by hotels for its weight and feel.
  • 4.5 Tog: Ideal for hot summer nights, available in natural fill or luxury microfibre.

Not too heavy, not too light: Find a duvet that’s just right

The weight of your duvet can make a big difference to your rest. Perhaps you prefer heavier feather-rich duvets for that tucked-in feeling, or maybe you love a lighter-weight cocoon made from pure down.

Fabulously fluffy, night after night

Gone are the days when you’d wake up to find the filling at the bottom of the duvet. All our natural duvets are hand filled and hemmed into squares which are plump with down or feathers. This keeps the filling evenly distributed and gives our duvets a hotel-worthy drape.

Our top tips for finding your perfect pillow

  1. Be picky: Just like shoe sizes, one pillow doesn't fit all. Consider your sleep style and the level of support you like. It’s worth investing in a good quality pillow - your neck and shoulders will thank you for it.
  2. Check the fill: Not all down and feather pillows are created equal, and the quality of the pillow’s fill is just as important as the percentage of down. Most people prefer a mix of feathers and down as it provides the best balance between support and softness.
  3. Buy to last: A good quality pillow will stay plump for longer. You can test your pillow’s lifespan by placing it over your arm - if it sags, it’s time for an upgrade.
  4. Get the right support: How firm or soft a pillow is determined by the quality of the pillow’s fill. We recommend buying one pillow to try before you invest in a whole set.
  5. Be allergy aware: Nobody wants to fall asleep sneezing. If you think you could be allergic to natural fill pillows, our clean, high-quality feather and down pillows are wrapped in mite-proof, double stitched casing to ensure none of the filling can escape. This can help prevent allergies.

Bathlinen & Towels

Get to know our spa-worthy bath linen, towels and robes

The little luxuries in life can turn your day around. Our indulgent bath range is made to do just that. Think you know the difference between waffle and velour? Know your combed cottons from your Turkish cottons? Dive into what makes this collection special.

  • Turkish cotton: A premium long-staple cotton from the Aegean region, this high quality cotton helps make our towels and towel bale sets strong, absorbent and soft to the touch.
  • Weight (GSM): This stands for grams per square metre and indicates how heavy the towel feels. The higher the GSM, the heavier the towel will be. Our 650gsm towels strike a balance between practicality and a high-end feel, providing the longevity, fluffiness and absorbency our 5* hotel clients love, while still being a practical weight for at-home laundering.
  • Combed Cotton: Combed cotton is softer than cotton that hasn’t been combed. The process involves straightening the yarns and removing the short length fibres to make the cotton softer, more durable and less prone to fraying and tearing.
  • Colour: Nothing says premium like fresh white towels. We’ve kept things classic with our hotel-style range and when laundered correctly they’ll stay bright white.
  • Sizing: We don’t believe in tiny towels - ours are generously sized and made to account for shrinkage, so you can wrap yourself in that plush hotel feeling shower after shower.
  • Waffle or velour? Choosing between a velour or waffle robe is a personal choice. A good quality velour bathrobe will cocoon you in comfort, whereas a lightweight waffle bathrobe is ideal for summer.

Did you know?

The quality of the yarn is just as important as the gsm. Find out more about towel quality in our How To Series.

Caring for bath linen and towelling

  • Avoid overdrying: Excessive heat damages fibres and stiffens your towels. Air dry when possible to keep fibres fluffed up. And if you are using a tumble dryer, use the cool-down cycle ten minutes before the end, as this allows the fibres to relax.
  • Ditch the softener: Fabric softener reduces absorbency by coating the fibres - exactly what you don’t need from a towel.
  • Dry between uses: Damp towels are a breeding ground for bacteria. Dry them between use and wash on the hot cycle of your washing machine. Ours can be washed at 60°C.

Tiny Tielle Children

Keep your little ones safe and snug with our lightweight children's bedding. For extra snuggle-factor, add a fluffy, anti-allergen pillow and super-soft blanket for blissful sleep.

  • Cot sheets: Choose soft, breathable cotton sheets with deep corners for wriggly sleepers. Our fitted sheets won’t ruffle or come away from the mattress at night so your tot can sleep well all night long.
  • Cot quilt and pillows: Our lightweight duvets are designed for standard cot beds. All our children's bedding sets include a refluffable, hygienic, anti-allergen filling (Dacron® Comforel® Allerban) to prevent dust mites, fungi, and bacteria.

Please note: We do not sell newborn bedding sets, as duvets and pillows are not recommended for standard cots and cribs. Always follow expert guidance for baby bedding safety.

Did you Know?

Tielle has partnered with Furnishing Futures, a charity creating healing homes that bring hope and dignity to women and children who have escaped domestic abuse and been placed in empty social housing. We're supporting them by donating our bed linen and towelling. We believe that everyone deserves a home that is safe, welcoming and dignified, and we’re excited to be partnering with such a wonderful charity that makes this a reality for vulnerable women and children.
